Who is Axton Enterprises?

Axton Enterprises primarily provides reporting and data support for businesses that use Mail Order Manager (MOM), although we have recently been expanding our repertoire to providing advice for those in the small- to mid-sized direct commerce industry who are seeking to compare the benefits of this with other packages: Response, Commercialware, and Mailware are among them.

Our mail order technical services division consists of Debra Ross (whose expertise is in the data and other technical aspects of MOM). Carole Ann Price, seated left, left the company in January 2001 to stay home with her kids full-time. Tamra Dale left the business in 2003 to stay home with HER kids full-time. (But the photo is just so good I'm leaving us all in there for the time being!)

Our business philosophy:

We mean what we say on the home page of this site: We are enthusiastic capitalists who love what we do: helping you make your business more efficient, productive, and profitable through the use of increasingly refined technology tools. We view the free market as not simply necessary, but as a beautiful thing. If you get us going, we are tirelessly opinionated about artificial impediments to freedom.

What kinds of businesses do we serve? Small- and medium-sized mail order businesses of all kinds, and also mail-order divisions of larger businesses. Please note that we make it a practice not to work for companies that market sexually explicit material (we've got kids who sometimes wander into the home office), or for the government. Please contact us directly if you would like further clarification of this policy.

We have worked with businesspeople at all levels: Owners, database managers, marketers, accountants, and operations, order entry, shipping, and customer service personnel. Some people think that you have to be a special kind of computer geek to understand how to apply computer innovations to your business. This, put simply, is a MYTH. Knowledge of this kind isn't magical; it's a step-by-step process that anyone can learn, as long as they get someone to assess which step they're at and build from there. This is where we feel that we stand out as computer trainers; we're great at figuring out where you are and where you need to go. Then, we show you how to get there, in an energetic, upbeat way that will actually have you enjoying the whole process. Remember, we started out in the fields of finance and English literature...and look where we are now. If we can do it, so can you!

We regard one of our main strengths as our commitment to helping our clients in any way we can. In October 2000, we became de-certified from Dydacomp Development Corporation, the company that produces MOM, for providing our clients with the name of a less-expensive forms printer that was not Software Forms, and for telling this printer the names of some of our clients who we thought might be interested in receiving information. This was in no way a contract violation with Dydacomp, and we received no negative feedback from clients (to the contrary, we were providing them with useful information!), but Dydacomp didn't like it and decided to de-certify us. As a result, you won't find our name on the Dydacomp web site any more...or, for that matter, the name of any other independent MOM services provider; Dydacomp discontinued their consultants program shortly after our removal, in favor of an "official" external consultant.

We are still widely regarded as the most knowledgeable and accessible (and affordable) of the independent MOM consultants. However, we used our "defrocking" as an opportunity to investigate other ways we might provide value to small- and medium-sized businesses in the mail order industry. (Without exception, the owners of these companies welcomed our participation, and affirmed that they would never have objected to our providing information about external services. Please let us know if you're interested in other packages that are competitive with MOM, and we'll put you in touch with the right people.)
